Press Kit
Sebastian Sanchez is a lifelong creative whose music is born from lived experience and an irrepressible drive to express it. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, he lived in Montreal, Quebec for 15 years, and has been based in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, since 2021. He has spent over three decades writing and performing songs that reflect his personal journey, most often in Spanish.
Whether he is playing solo or as part with musical collaborators, his sound is a vibrant fusion of emotional funk, rock, and blues with the rhythmic soul of cumbia, vallenato, and reggae—deeply rooted in Colombian musical traditions. Influences like Carlos Vives, Bacilos, Diamante Eléctrico, Pez Errante, Oh’laville, and Ekhymosis echo through his work, alongside the melodic sensibilities of Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Coldplay. The result is a style that feels both grounded and exploratory, intimate and full of momentum.
Sebastian’s music is ultimately made for movement. His songs pulse with energy—inviting listeners to dance, to release, to feel alive. Beneath the driving rhythms lie lyrics that speak of migration, memory, and resilience, giving each performance a sense of depth without losing the joy. Whether on a small stage or at a community gathering, Sebastián doesn’t just play music—he creates a space where rhythm connects, emotion moves, and presence matters.
